About the Shop
Travis Peters
Travis was just 14 years old when he walked across the street from his family-owned, small-town grocery store and asked the owner of a local mechanic shop if he could get a job sweeping floors and stacking tires. He was hired on the spot, and he hasn’t stopped working on cars since.
Today, Travis is a licensed Automotive Service Technician with 20 years of experience. After beginning his career in a local dealership setting, he opened his own shop in 2021. Since then, the business has grown, his team has expanded, and a second location has opened to better serve the community of Chatham Kent.
Known for his knowledge, honesty, and commitment to doing the job right, Travis believes in treating every customer with integrity and recommending only the work their vehicle truly needs.
Having started in the trade himself at such a young age, Travis also has a passion for encouraging and training young people who are interested in pursuing a career in the automotive industry. He understands the value of being given an opportunity, learning from experienced technicians, and developing the skills and confidence to build a career of their own. Passing along his knowledge and helping the next generation of technicians find their footing in the trade is something he takes great pride in.
For Travis, success is about more than building a business. It’s about earning the trust of his customers, supporting his team, and showing his own children the value of hard work, honesty, and following their dreams.
John Bax
John Bax has been around cars for as long as he can remember. He got into the trade by working on cars with his dad from a young age, turning a lifelong passion into a career.
John has been a licensed Automotive Service Technician for 27 years, working in a dealership setting before joining Travis at The Shop. He brings a wealth of knowledge, skill, and experience to our team and will be running our North location as the general manager.
One of the things John enjoys most about the job is being able to share his knowledge and help pass the trade down to the next generation. He enjoys seeing others learn, grow, and develop their own skills in the industry.
Outside of work, John loves spending time with his family and being involved in his kids’ sports. You’ll often find him cheering them on from the sidelines.

Carson Horneman
Carson Horneman is a third-year apprentice at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario. His interest in the trade started from his love of working on his own cars, which eventually led him to pursue a career in the automotive industry.
One of his favourite parts of the job is seeing a vehicle through from start to finish, especially getting to drive the car out of the shop once the work is complete. He enjoys knowing the job is done and the vehicle is ready to get back on the road. As he continues through his apprenticeship, he’s looking forward to building his skills and knowledge with the goal of eventually being able to run a shop of his own.
His coworkers would describe him as crafty and charismatic, qualities that bring both skill and personality to the shop.
Kalvin Coll
Kalvin Coll is a first-year apprentice at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario. His interest in the trade began in Grade 12 when he took Auto and discovered how much he enjoyed working with vehicles and learning the hands-on side of the industry.
One of his favourite parts of the job is working alongside the small team at the shop and learning from those around him. As he continues through his apprenticeship, he’s looking forward to building his skills and eventually being able to take on jobs confidently and independently.
His coworkers would describe him as eager, kind, and determined, qualities he brings with him every day.
Josh McDonald
Josh MacDonald first joined the shop as a co-op student and has continued working with the team part-time. He enjoys being around the trade and is taking every opportunity to learn as much as he can and gain hands-on experience along the way.
One of the things Josh enjoys most is learning new things and building skills that he can carry with him into the future. He’s especially proud of being able to take on tasks that he couldn’t do before and now complete them with confidence.
His coworkers would describe him as very organized, a quality he brings to both his work and the shop every day.
